C9 beat Sentinels 3-1 in Sentinels’ first appearance in a Pro Series grand finals and Matthew “FormaL” Piper’s last run with the team.

With the loss, Matthew “Royal2” Fiorante is clear to return to Sentinels, and Halo 5’s best overall team will be made whole again.

Sentinels fought their way through the lower bracket after a 2-0 loss to OpTic in the upper bracket. They beat Fnatic, G2, eUnited, and then beat OpTic 2-0 in the rematch. They punched their ticket to the grand finals after a 3-2 victory over FaZe Clan.

Cloud9’s run was never in doubt. In their best of five series, they never lost more than one map, even though they were pushed to the brink by Sentinels and FaZe Clan. In the best of three matchups, they notched a 2-0 against “we love anime” and then bested Spacestation Gaming and eUnited in 2-1 scorelines.

Once again, Jonathan "Renegade" Willette ran rampant all over the map in his campaign to be distinguished as Halo Infinite’s best player early in the esports’ life cycle.

Other notable players from the non-winners included Eric “Snip3down” Wrona, Bradley "Frosty" Bergstrom, and Ayden "Suspector" Hill.

Cloud9 continued their dominant run in the Pro Series. The Raleigh Kickoff Major champions are the undisputed kings of Infinite so far. They’ll need to defend their crown from an energized field in Anaheim, which will feature a solid FaZe Clan, a full-strength Sentinels, and multiple other extremely hungry squads.
